Thank you for your interest in Honoring Your Educator! This new program is a way for parents, grandparents, mentors and friends of our students to give back to teachers by honoring them in a meaningful way! For those interested, you may make an online gift. You will be asked to select the school in which your student attends and let us know your educator that has made an impact! The gift will then be transferred to the school and the educator you choose! The educator will be able to use this gift for their classroom or department to continue to benefit all students! Not only will the educator receive the gift for their area, they will also be recognized with a certificate and pin to wear. The recipient will never know the amount of your gift, so nothing is too small or large. We hope this is a simple way to recognize those who invest in our students, as well as continue a legacy in their classroom for years to come! A huge part of school each day is recess - kids need to PLAY! And they like to play all sorts of games. I am requesting some help to purchase recess materials for our 2nd grade students - balls, games and other fun materials. We are so glad to be able to play on the playground again and we could really use a variety of playthings to get kids fully engaged during free time. And to make it even more fun, children would also love a portable speaker so we can listen to dance music during recess.
Our school needs a book binding machine to help facilitate the creative process. Children are excited to see their work come to life as a tangible book to share and read again and again. We will order a book binding machine, and binding spines to share with our PreK team. 11 classrooms will benefit from the use of this items, serving nearly 200 students each year.
As our Pre K program grows, so does the need to equip classrooms with gear to be prepared for an emergency. Our emergency kits are well stocked. They include weather radios, flash lights, small first aid kits, and walkie talkies. With the addition of 2 more classrooms in 2018 and anticipated growth for more classrooms in the future, we hope to purchase additional supplies for our emergency bags. For this funding request, we will purchase Walkie Talkies for our program. They are used for communication with the school nurse while on the playground and when on filed trips away from our school. During severe weather, the walkie talkies allow us to stay in contact with administration and be weather aware.
Currently, the struggle for my students in our flexible seating classroom is they do not have a good surface to take notes or complete their activities while sitting in certain areas of our classroom. Because of this issue, the students are not using some of the comfortable choice areas of my classroom for fear they will not be able to produce quality work. I purchased 6 lapboards last year to help with this issue. My students loved them, but having only 6 presented a problem. I am hoping to add 6 more to our classroom in order for my students to continue to work in the "comfy" areas of our classroom as well as allow them to move freely into the hallways creating more seating options.
They will not only get to enjoy the flexible seating, but will also have a space to work on, which makes them feel confident and comfortable while they are learning.
My classroom needs seating alternatives! Our options are restricted to the standard chair/desk or the hard/dirty floor. By offering flexible seating options, the students have a comfortable alternative to their learning environment. Plastic stools, scoop rockers, and a carpet will provide students with sensory input to help with focus, communication opportunities by practicing patience and turn taking, not to mention- FUN!
A sensory pathway on the floor will give children the opportunity for vestibular input which research has supported to be a direct link to increase cognitive function and help with retention of new skills.
